Pickleball in Martinsburg, West Virginia

Martinsburg has a strong mix of outdoor and indoor pickleball. The eight dedicated courts on Baltimore Street are the city's main outdoor complex, with permanent nets, lights, and daily hours from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. War Memorial Park provides another six outdoor courts on shared tennis space.

Indoor open gym at Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center gives beginners and solo players an organized route into games. Parks and Recreation also runs open gym at W. Randy Smith Recreation Center in nearby Inwood.

Martinsburg's Outdoor and Indoor Courts

  • Baltimore Street Pickleball Courts, 750 Baltimore Street. The city opened eight dedicated outdoor courts here in October 2024. The courts have permanent nets and lighting and are open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Public court access does not guarantee an organized rotation, so players arriving alone should use the local scheduling network or an indoor open gym. View the official court hours.
  • Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center, 273 Woodbury Avenue. The gym supports six indoor pickleball courts during full setup. Current weekday open gym runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and admission is $5 for all available play. Call 304-264-4842 for same day facility changes. View the current open gym schedule.
  • War Memorial Park, 500 N. Tennessee Avenue. Six outdoor pickleball courts are marked on shared tennis space. Portable nets are provided, the courts are free, and reservations are not required. The courts are not lighted. View court details and schedule a game.
  • W. Randy Smith Recreation Center, 40 Excellence Way, Inwood. This nearby indoor gym is a second Parks and Recreation open gym location. Call 304-229-0022 for the day's court setup before making the drive.

Starting Out in Martinsburg

Beginners can start at the weekday open gym at Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center. The Monday through Friday session runs from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM and costs $5. Arriving during open gym gives a new player access to other players and a rotation instead of an empty outdoor court.

Parks and Recreation does not publish a standing lesson series for adults. Call Berkeley 2000 at 304-264-4842 and ask about the next beginner clinic or instructor led program. For individual instruction, use this site's Coaches section.

Open Gym, Community Games, and Tournaments

Weekday open gym is Martinsburg's recurring organized play. Berkeley 2000 Recreation Center runs pickleball Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM for $5. The open gym schedule can move when the recreation centers host camps or other programs, and Parks and Recreation posts those changes directly.

Outdoor players use the free Eastern Panhandle area on PlayTime Scheduler to create and join games at Baltimore Street, War Memorial Park, and nearby courts. The annual Rotary Club of Martinsburg Pickleball Classic has brought a large indoor tournament to the city since 2022. The March 2025 event has ended, so use the tournament listing only when the next edition opens for registration.

How to Join a Martinsburg Game

Solo visitors can go to Berkeley 2000 open gym on a weekday between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Admission is $5, and the open gym format provides players and a rotation. Call 304-264-4842 on the morning of play if weather or local events may have moved activity indoors.

Another practical route is the Eastern Panhandle PlayTime Scheduler, which includes both Martinsburg outdoor locations. Visitors with partners can go directly to the eight dedicated Baltimore Street courts between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM. War Memorial Park is a free daytime alternative with portable nets.
